Apple pie with graham cracker crust

Enjoy this classic dessert in a heart-smart way.

Ingredients

6 cups fresh, peeled, Granny Smith or other firm apples
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Graham cracker crust, prebaked in 9-inch pan

Topping
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup applesauce

 

Directions

  1. Combine sliced apples, lemon juice, sugars, flour, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Mix well and spoon into crust.
  2. In another bowl, combine topping ingredients with a fork or pastry blender until crumbly. Sprinkle topping over apples.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit until topping is golden and filling is bubbling, about 45 minutes.
