Our staff includes:
Matthew Bettendorf, MD, graduated summa cum laude in 1997 from Michigan Technological University with a bachelor of science in biology. He earned his medical degree at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska in 2002. His five-year general surgery residency was completed in 2007 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Bettendorf's special interest is in intra-abdominal and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He performs a variety of open and laparoscopic bariatric procedures.
Darren Glass, MD, earned his medical degree from the University of
Texas at San Antonio Health Science Center. He completed his surgical residency
at Grand Rapids, Mich. His interests in surgery include thyroid, intra-abdominal
and both open and laparoscopic bariatric procedures.
Manuel R. Moran, MD, earned his medical degree and cum laude doctoral
from the University of Salamanca School of Medicine in Spain. He completed a surgical
residency at the University Hospital in Salamanca and another at the University
of North Dakota. Moran completed a colon and rectal surgery fellowship at the
Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, La. His areas of expertise include
intra-abdominal/GI surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery and colonoscopy. He
is a member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and a fellow
of the American College of Surgeons.
Patrick M. Oakes, MD, graduated from West Point and the University
of Minnesota. He completed his surgical residence in Minnesota and Iowa and is
certified by the American College of Surgeons. He has developed an expertise in
laparoscopic surgery and has interest in thoracic and vascular surgery. Oakes
is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Alan L. Tims, MD, earned his medical degree from the University of
Minnesota. He completed his surgical residency at the University of Kentucky,
Lexington. He completed a colon and rectal fellowship at the University of Illinois-Carle
Clinic. Tims received certification from the American Board of Surgery and the
American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College
of Surgeons and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
