United launched a new evidence-based practice (EBP) fellowship in 2008. EBP emphasizes the importance of consulting scientific evidence to guide clinical decision-making to ensure the best treatments and approaches to care are offered to every patient in need of medical and nursing care. Encompassing classroom instruction, 1:1 mentoring and integration of EBP changes in practice, the 12-month fellowship is an opportunity for staff nurses to work closely with an advanced practice nurse mentor to investigate an important clinical question faced in their nursing specialty.
